Situated at the far western end of India, where the Gomti River merges with the Arabian Sea, Dwarka in Gujarat is located. Here, 5000 years ago, Lord Krishna settled the city of Dwarka after leaving Mathura. The city of Dwarka is considered to be a pilgrimage place for pilgrimage, being one of the Chardhams of the country established by Adi Shankaracharya. This is the reason that the influx of Krishna devotees remains here and even when people are plagued by the epidemic, it is not surprising to see a crowd there.
It is believed that Vajranabh, the great-grandson of Lord Krishna, built the original temple. The expansion and renovation of the temple continued over time. The present form of the temple is of the 16th century. The temple is surrounded by a perkote, with a doorway around it. Among them are the salvation gate located in the north and the heaven gate in the south. The temple is entered through the heaven gate and exits through the salvation gate. Its peak which is 235 meters high is visible from a distance. Its magnificent seven-storey building can also be seen from the banks of Gomti. The temple rests on 72 pillars. Solanki style architecture adds to its grandeur and the moon.
The multicolored Dharmadhwaja of about 52 yards continues to unfurl on the summit of the temple. It is changed five times, because the flag is considered to be the turban of Krishna God. The 52-yard flag is said to be ruled by 56 types of Yadavas over Dwarka. They all had their own buildings. These include temples of Lord Sri Krishna, Balarama, Anirudhji and Pradyumna and waving their flag on the top of their temple. As a symbol of the other 52 types of Yadavas, this 52-yard flag is hoisted at the temple of Dwarkadhish.
The temple is also a group of small and big temples. The Shyavarni Chaturbhuji statue of Lord Krishna sits on the silver throne in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The statue, which is adorned with precious jewelery and beautiful clothes, is such that it does not feel like moving away from it. The Lord is adorned many times throughout the day. Their clothes are changed, their jewelery is changed. Whenever you go to see him, you will find him in new form. Here the idol of Lord Krishna is standing facing towards the west, perhaps he is looking towards the sea, which has his submerged city under the waves. On top of the sanctum sanctorum, the high peak made in the civil system appears like the peak of which mountain. The top 7 layers can be seen. These seven layers are said to symbolize the 7 ancient cities of India i.e. Saptapuri, one of which is Dwarka. The main temple is surrounded by the Anirudh and Pradyumna temples, Rishi Durvasa's temple, Ambaji's temple, Devaki temple, Radha Krishna temple, Beni Mahadev, Purushottam Rai and Balarama temple. The Patarani Mahal is a separate temple with an open courtyard in the middle. How to reach: The nearest airport is Rajkot and Jamnagar. From there, one can reach Dwarka by taxi.
